How and Why Does Aromatherapy Work:
When essential oils are inhaled through the nostrils, aromatic plant-based molecules are carried through the lining of the nasal cavity by tiny olfactory nerves to the part of the brain called the limbic system. The limbic system influences the endocrine system and the nervous system. The endocrine system consists of glands that secrete hormones into the bloodstream - these hormones act as chemical mediators to regulate bodily functions such as mood and metabolism and can cause mood change by literally altering your brain chemistry. Specific essentials trigger specific mood changes.
